History
Tropical Cyclone Ferdinand originated as a weak tropical low that intensified to tropical cyclone intensity on 2 March 1984, during the highly active 1983–84 Australian region cyclone season. The system tracked eastward to east-southeastward, moving roughly parallel to the northern coastline of the Northern Territory before making landfall near Maningrida on 4 March. The cyclone subsequently dissipated the following day. Ferdinand's impacts were relatively minor, with some damage reported in the Goulburn Island area and around Maningrida. It did not reach severe tropical cyclone status, remaining at the lower end of the intensity scale throughout its brief existence.
