History

Tropical Cyclone Karim developed during the off-season of the 2021–22 Australian region cyclone season, entering the Australian basin on 7 May 2022. The system did not pose a threat to any land areas and tracked through the region without affecting populated coastlines. Karim formed after the official season had concluded on 30 April 2022, making it one of the later systems associated with that season's activity. The 2021–22 season itself was slightly below average overall, producing ten tropical cyclones despite a record number of tropical lows forming. Karim's passage through the basin was uneventful in terms of impacts, and the system exited without causing damage or casualties to any inhabited areas.
